Silly Politicians

Feingold introduced censure legislation Monday in the Senate but not a single Democrat has embraced it.

If I didn’t care so much about the future of this country, this would be funny. The Democrats seemed to have trumped the Republican disorganization with their own ineptitude.

24 Recap

Another fabulous recap provided over at the Rightwing Nuthouse. Just one quick observation, if the nerve agent was caustic enough to eat through the CTU vapor locks, wouldn’t it have a less then positive effect on Jack’s eyes and skin? And where did the HVAC system send all that nerve gas anyway? Hmmm ;-)

New Look

I hope you like the new look. Since spring is about here I opted for a less wintry looking theme. This theme also enables me to use some more WordPress features such as live RSS feeds, etc. 8-)

World Baseball Classic

It’s 10:50 and I’m watching Puerto Rico versus Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic. I’d also like to be watching the United States play South Korea. How could ESPN not be showing this game anywhere??

Don’t complain about US fans not embracing the WBC if you’re not going to televise the entire game. I do think they’ll switch to the US game after Sports Center… They should at least have it on ESPN 2…

This Makes Me Physically ILL

Five women sang and danced as they held up signs saying “thank God for dead soldiers” at the funeral of an army sergeant who was killed by an Iraqi bomb.

For them, it was the perfect way to spread God’s word: America was being punished for tolerating homosexuality.

I’m all for freedom of speech, but some people just need to have their ASSES KICKED. I find it hard to believe there is a jury in the world that would convict a grieving relative from beating the crap out of one of these people.

These people do not represent Christians, they represent lunatics.

It Might Be My Year

Like every other red-blooded American lad I’ve been diligently filling out NCAA brackets since I can remember.

Some years I follow college basketball closer than others. In the past, I’ve noticed a negative correlation between my basketball “knowledge” and the results of my pools. This would also explain why most office pools are won by A) someone’s wife, B) someone’s daughter or C) the new secretary who just moved to the US from Bangladesh.

So why am I so confident about this year? It’s because I have no idea who’s good and who’s bad. Hell, I’m not even sure where a lot of these schools are even located! If there ever was a year for me to win, now would be it. Sure hope I don’t choke.

Wow!

Beginning this June, college tuition will be free for any student who enters the Kalamazoo school system by the ninth grade — regardless of income or need. The program, unveiled in November by the city’s superintendent of schools and underwritten by a group of local philanthropists, is to run for at least 13 years.

From the front page of today’s Wall Street Journal (sub required).

The program is being financed anonymously and requires children to be in the Kalamazoo public school system from K-12 to achieve complete tuition payback. The tuition is good for Michigan public universities. It appears tuition is prorated if the child entered the system later. It also appears that this has already created an economic boom in the downtrodden city.

I wonder how many other cities will start using this as a carrot.

Review: Gillette Fusion Razor

I was in the evil Wal-Mart yesterday to pick-up diapers and happened past a display for Gillette’s new “Fusion” razor. Since I’ve been inundated with commercials about the product, I thought I’d give it a try.

After 2 days the results are in…

The Good: The razor provides a nice close shave, and it does feel pretty good on the skin. You’d have to really try hard to cut yourself with this thing. I also liked the single blade on the back for touching-up sideburns.

The Bad: I found it actually takes longer to shave because the blade requires you to rinse it much more than even the Gillette Mach 3 (my previous razor). This is particularly true at the beginning of the shave.

Overall: I think I still prefer the Mach 3, but I’m going to give myself a couple weeks with the Fusion to see if it grows on me.
